T-Rex Cafe

T-Rex Cafe

We went to the T-Rex Cafe on my son’s birthday when we were at Disneyworld. Note to those trying to get Reservations: Call the Restaurant ((407) 828-8739). I tried to make reservations at Disneyworld.com at 180 days in advance, it is showed NO availability. What?!?! I didn’t think the restaurant was that popular! I then called the restaurant and their schedule was WIDE open. I could book anytime I wanted for that day (even with a party of 7). Not sure why this is the case, because you can book Rainforest Cafe online and they are owned by the same company….

My favorite way to Save at both T-Rex cafe and Rainforest Cafe is by earning FREE gift cards through MyPoints! Both my Husband and I have accounts. We had enough gift cards saved up on our last trip to eat at Rainforest Cafe 3 times and T-rex once – all for FREE! Plus we have the Landry’s Select Club (I got it on sale years ago… but the welcome gift covers the cost of the club membership), and my husband and sons’s birthdays are close together, so we were able to use my Husband’s Birthday Reward while we were there too! (My husband and I both have our own cards). Join MyPoints and start earning your own free gift cards! (FYI – it is good to sign up with a junk email account)

You are greeted by a big T-rex, that moves its head, when you enter the restaurant. There is a big gift shop as well.

We sat near the bar, under the giant Octopus.

When we go again, I’ll probably ask to sit in the ice room!

Just like the Rain/Thunder storms at Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex has Meteor Showers. Kids always like that!

The food was good. Nothing to write home about, but it was good – very similar to Rainforest Cafe. You eat here for the fun at atmosphere – not for the world-class cuisine.

Speaking of Atmosphere, this restaurant is so loud, it is hard to hear those you are eating with, much less the waiter. Maybe it was just because of where we were sitting? We had the HARDEST time hearing our waiter! However, it is not nearly as loud as Hard Rock Cafe in Downtown Disney. We’ll never eat there again for that reason alone – I couldn’t even hear my husband sitting next to me!

To finish up our meal, since it was our son’s birthday, we ordered the Chocolate Extinction. It says it feeds 4, but there were 7 of us and could barely finish. It is similar to the Vollllccccaaannnoooo at Rainforest Cafe.

I was surprised that it was actually pretty good! Plus it was really fun for our kids 🙂

While it is not my favorite restaurant, as long as we have kids, I am certain we’ll be back, especially when I can eat for FREE 🙂 Kids loved it and the food was good, so I call it a successful Birthday dinner!
