Official: Luigi’s Flying Tires is closing; New attraction to open

It is official: Luigi’s Flying Tires ride/attraction is scheduled to close on February 16th. There have been rumors about this for quite awhile and I mentioned here that it looked like the attraction was a goner.

I can’t say I am really surprised or too sad to see it go. We only rode it twice, due to the lines and insanely long load time for a ride that didn’t work well. It was the load time that caused the lines and it drove me nutty. It was fun, but it was difficult to move the “tires” and actually get going, and when you did get the hang of it, your ride was over.

The Disney Parks blog released a picture of what the new attraction will look like. Some have speculated it looks like a spinning ride, like Francis’ Ladybug Boogie in “a Bug’s Land.” I personally hope that is not the case. I actually like spinning rides (bring on the Teacups!!), but the Ladybug Boogie is REALLY lame – I would be sad if they replaced one lame ride for an equally lame ride. I do have hope since the blog states that the ride  “will feature a new ride system and ride vehicles.” So I am hopeful for something awesome to come out of the ride change!

It is stated to open in early 2016 – which is perfect timing for our next trip to Disneyland!! I can’t wait to see what this new ride is like! I’ll let you know any updates as I hear them!
